I would like to thank the Town Supervisor and Board Members for their awesome support of the 2017 Charleston Memorial Day Parade on Monday, May 29, at 4:00 pm. Having their support is helping ensure a successful event.

At the conclusion of the parade, a ceremony will take place where I would like to recognize dignitaries in attendance. This year, however, we will be hearing from a couple of local residents as they share what the Memorial Day holiday means to them. Following the ceremony, the Charleston Church will be providing a free community picnic where hot dogs, chips, picnic salads, cans of pop and bottles of water can be enjoyed by all. In addition to this, the Charleston Volunteer Fire Department will be sponsoring make-your-own ice cream sundaes. Our church will also be organizing a children’s carnival with games, prizes, and bounce houses.

Last year, approximately 600 residents from our town came out and enjoyed the day’s events. We would love for you to be involved if you are available! For more information about this event, please e-mail or call me at my office number (922-9089).

Hope to see everyone on Memorial Day!

Sincerely, Pastor Brett Popp (Charleston Church)

    To whom it may concern:

I Am interested in a piece of land in the Charleston Four Corners area. It is raw land on about 19 acres and my goal it to build a home and have a small farming operation raising livestock and vegetables.

    I have a few questions:

What is the process required to build a house including gas, power, water and plumming. I can dig a well for water and use solar for electricity Instead?

What are the laws and regulation regarding raising crops and livestock?

Can I build a farm stand on the property?

Do you have the town code on a website like ecode360?

I look forward to your timely response. Thank you for your time.

      Dear Shawn:
In order to answer all your questions it would be best if you talked to the Town Supervisor, Robert Sullivan. His contact information is available on the website. He will provide information and probably suggest you stop by the Town offices and talk with the Code enforcement officer, Assessor, and Town clerk during our Thursday evening office hours.
